Both our doctors – Dr. Steve Gurtner and Dr. Maggie Gurtner – have special, advanced training.
Honored Pediatric Dentist: AAPD Diplomate
Dr. Maggie studied eight years to become a Diplomate of the American Association of Pediatric Dentistry. Only a very small percentage of Pediatric Dentists achieve this honor. As one of the nine recognized specialties of the American Dental Association, Pediatric Dentistry is dedicated to the oral health of children and patients with special health care needs. Pediatric dentists complete two to three years of additional specialized training after four years of dental school.
Diplomate status includes a rigorous examination. The purpose is to validate and improve of the pediatric dentist’s clinical and diagnostic abilities. Successful completion of the examination permits one to be designated a Diplomate. This is a voluntary pursuit; not all pediatric dentists achieve this level of excellence. A Diplomate believes service to community, continued higher education and self-improvement constitute the cardinal characteristics of true professionals.
